Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 May 2025

1. Introduction

Welcome to GymForge ("the App"), developed by Bytecrumbs (Sascha Derungs) ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the App, which is or will be available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Our website is https://gymforge.app.

Your privacy is important to us. The App is designed to store your data directly on your personal cloud storage account linked to your mobile platform, leveraging platform-provided data storage frameworks (e.g., Apple's StoreKit/SwiftData for iCloud, Google Drive API for Google Drive). This means that we, the developers, do not typically access, collect, or store your personal data (as defined below) on our own servers.

2. Information We Process

  • Data You Provide & Store via Your Personal Cloud Storage (Fitness Data):
The App allows you to create, modify, and manage fitness-related data, including but not limited to:
    • Exercise definitions
    • Workout plans
    • Logged workout details (e.g., sets, repetitions, weights, durations)
This data, which may be considered sensitive personal information due to its relation to your health and physical activity, is processed by the App locally on your device. If you have cloud synchronization enabled and configured for the App, this data is synced and stored in your personal cloud storage account: Apple iCloud for iOS users or your personal Google Drive account for Android users
We do not have access to the specific content you store in your personal iCloud or Google Drive account through the App. Your data stored on such services is subject to the respective platform's terms and privacy policies (e.g., Apple's iCloud terms, Google's Google Drive terms).
  • Information Processed Locally on Your Device:
The App processes the fitness data mentioned above locally on your device to function correctly. In the future, the App may also store other information locally on your device, such as user preferences or settings specific to that device, which may not be synced to your cloud storage. This information is not transmitted to us.
  • Non-Personal Data (Via Platform Providers):
If you have opted-in to share such data with app developers through your device settings:
    • Apple: Apple may collect aggregated, anonymized diagnostic and usage data related to the App (e.g., crash reports, usage statistics). We may access this anonymized data via App Store Connect.
    • Google: Similarly, Google may collect aggregated, anonymized diagnostic and usage data if the App is distributed via the Google Play Store. We may access this data via the Google Play Console and potentially other Google-provided analytics services (like Firebase, if integrated by us for such purposes).
This data does not personally identify you and is used to improve the App's performance, identify issues, and enhance user experience. For more details, please refer to Apple's and Google's privacy policies.
  • In-App Purchase Information (Via Platform Providers):
The App offers subscriptions ("Pro" version) processed through the respective platform's In-App Purchase system (Apple's App Store or Google Play Store). When you make a purchase, the platform provider (Apple or Google) processes your payment information. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment details (like credit card numbers). We receive anonymized transaction information from the platform provider for fulfillment and record-keeping purposes (e.g., to verify your subscription status).

3. How We Use Information

  • To Provide App Functionality: The App processes your fitness data locally and facilitates its storage on your personal cloud storage account (Apple iCloud or Google Drive) to enable the features and services of the App.
  • To Provide Subscription Services: We use information from Apple or Google regarding your subscription status to unlock "Pro" features within the App.
  • To Improve the App: We may use anonymized and aggregated diagnostic and usage data (as provided by Apple or Google, if you've opted-in) to understand how the App is used, identify bugs or crashes, and make improvements.

4. How Your Information Is Shared

  • With Your Personal Cloud Storage Account: The primary way your fitness data is "shared" is by you, through the App, with your own personal cloud storage account (Apple iCloud for iOS users, Google Drive for Android users). This storage and synchronization are governed by your agreement with the respective platform provider.
  • With Platform Providers (for In-App Purchases): When you make an In-App Purchase, you share information directly with Apple or Google as per their terms and privacy policy.
  • No Sharing with Us or Other Third Parties by Default: We do not share your personal fitness data with ourselves (on our servers) or any other third parties, as we do not collect it.
  • Legal Requirements (Hypothetical): In the unlikely event we were compelled by law (e.g., subpoena, court order) to disclose information, and if we somehow had access to any information (which, as stated, is generally not the case for your fitness data), we would comply with such legal obligations.

5. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

  • Storage: Your App data (fitness data) is stored locally on your device and, if cloud sync is enabled by you, in your personal cloud storage account (Apple iCloud for iOS users, Google Drive for Android users). We do not store this data on our servers.
  • Security:
    • Data stored on your device is protected by the security features of your mobile device (iOS or Android).
    • Data stored in your personal cloud storage account is protected by the respective platform's security measures (Apple's for iCloud, Google's for Google Drive). It is your responsibility to secure your Apple ID/Google Account and associated cloud services (e.g., using a strong password and two-factor authentication).
    • We, as developers, implement reasonable measures within the App itself to protect data processed locally.
  • Retention & Deletion:
    • Data stored locally on your device will be removed if you delete the App, unless it's part of a standard device backup.
    • Data stored in your personal cloud storage account is managed by you. Deleting the App from your device does not automatically delete its data from your cloud account. You can manage or delete data from your cloud account through your device's settings or other interfaces provided by Apple or Google. The App currently does not offer an in-app feature to delete specific pieces of data from cloud storage; all data is synced. Please refer to Apple's or Google's documentation for managing your cloud data.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Since your fitness data is primarily stored in your personal cloud storage account (Apple iCloud or Google Drive), you exercise control over it through your Apple ID/Google Account and respective cloud settings. Apple and Google provide tools for you to access, correct, or delete data stored in your cloud accounts.

If you have questions about data processed locally by the App (that isn't synced to cloud storage), or if you want to understand how to delete any such local data, please contact us.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction, e.g., 16 in the European Economic Area/UK, or as defined by Google Play Store and Apple App Store policies for data processing consent). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information without your consent, please contact us so we can address the issue.

8. International Data Transfers

Any data synced to your personal cloud storage account (Apple iCloud or Google Drive) is managed by Apple or Google and may be stored on servers in various locations worldwide, as per their respective policies. As the developer (Bytecrumbs/Sascha Derungs) is based in Singapore, any interactions you have directly with us (e.g., support emails) would be processed in Singapore.

9. Future Changes to Data Handling

We may update how the App handles data in the future (e.g., to enable data sharing features with a backend server owned by us, or to allow separate user accounts not tied to platform cloud storage). If such changes materially alter how your information is handled, this Privacy Policy will be updated, and we will notify you as appropriate (e.g., through an in-app notification or by posting a notice on the App Store/Google Play Store page or our website).

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the effective date of the policy and potentially through an in-app notification or by posting a notice on the App Store/Google Play Store page or our website (https://gymforge.app). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
